Who is Pet Refuge: 
 
A Women’s Refuge survey found more than half of women with pets delayed leaving a violent home out of fear for their pet’s safety. With NZ having the highest rate of domestic violence in the developed world, and more than 60% of us owning a pet, this is a massive problem in NZ. 
 
Pet Refuge is a national charity dedicated to temporarily housing pets affected by family violence, because we know not having a safe place for pets to stay, is a major barrier to leaving violence. We provide everything from transport to food and veterinary care, as well as lots and lots of LOVE and once the family is back on their feet, we reunite them with their fur-baby.
