This detailed wood carving depicts the outline of lake Wanaka. It is hand-made from reclaimed Tōtara beams that spent most of their life as a Canterbury church roof. After the 2011 earthquake the church was deconstructed and Bearwood in Wanaka have repurposed this unique piece of New Zealand history giving it another lease of life.
Lake Wanaka, the home of BEARWOOD workshop, is at an altitude of 278 meters, covering an area of 192 km² is New Zealand’s fourth largest lake.
